Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (60 cm x 60 cm)
£230
Inspired by some really beautiful seaweed washed up on the shore. I used some artistic licence and rearranged it into a kind of network rather than the clump it was in real life.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (60 cm x 60 cm)
£220
Celebrating the most urban of trees! This gave me the opportunity to add in a city map and even some houses - which don’t usually feature in my work.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (60 cm x 60 cm)
£230
I’ve tried to capture the horse chestnut tree in all its seasons - from the first tender young leaves to full leaf and flower, and then, of course, conkers!
Acrylic marker on canvas
2’ x 2’ (60 cm x 60 cm)
£230
More of a portrait of an idea than the plant itself. I’ve taken various aspects of the blackberry bush: thorns, blossom, fruit, new leaves taking over from the tattered remains of last year’s, and found the colours and patterns that I hope express its spirit.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 3’ x 2’ (92 cm x 60 cm)
£300
There’s a whole world going on under your feet…
Acrylic marker on canvas, 3’ x 2’ (92cm x 61cm)
SOLD
There’s something especially tranquil about leaves floating on still water, and this provides the horizontal element of this painting - while the white verticals of the birch trunks stand out more as the foliage thins, and the remaining leaves are a glorious yellow.
Acrylic marker on canvas
4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 92 cm)
£400
A walk along Danes Dyke inspired this scene of clover, vetch and umbellifers.
Acrylic marker on canvas
3’ x 2’ (92 cm x 61 cm)
SOLD
The ubiquitous but often unappreciated dandelion takes top billing!
Acrylic marker on canvas
2’ x 2’ (61 cm x 61 cm)
SOLD
Wave meets wave with flying foam and all the shades of green and blue you can think of - added to a pink background for contrast because why not?
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’6” (60cm x 76cm)
£150
My spirit plant! By September the Rosebay plants are producing seedpods and the leaves are starting to turn interesting colours.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 1’ 8” x 3’ 3” (1 m x 0.5 m)
SOLD
A bridge, a pool… tranquil, watery images.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 1’8” x 3’3” (50cm x 1m)
SOLD
The long stalks of the sea kelp (Laminaria) give this painting a kind of Art Nouveau feel.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (61 cm x 61 cm)
SOLD
Another birch-inspired painting, this one with added moss. I thought this had a slightly Russian feel to it for some reason - hence the name.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 91 cm)
£300
Loosely based on a group of limpets and barnacles and painted after having a short break from art, this was an opportunity to go wild with some really bright colours.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 91 cm)
SOLD
Another venerable tree in Christchurch Park - this one has an intriguing hollow at the point where the trunk splits into two.
4’ x 3’ (122cm x 91cm)
Acrylic marker
£300
These flat rocks with their white striations, gleaming with sea water and holding tiny rock pools, had a mysterious, map-like appearance from above.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 92 cm)
SOLD
This magnificent tree stands in Christchurch Park in Ipswich. There are so many distinct textures and patterns, even within a small patch of its trunk.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 92 cm)
SOLD
The waves and weather have sculpted the sandstone of the coast around Sydney into many-layered shapes – this little inlet near Manly was like an off-centred cross, with the sea entering with a satisfying burst of spray.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 92 cm)
£250
A lump of granite had ended up at the bottom of a rock pool, and these winkles had made a criss-cross of paths through the algae growing on it. Where they had been grazing, the speckled pattern of the rock showed through, only to be blurred again when the algae started to grow back.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (61 cm x 61 cm)
£110
This was inspired by a slab of Lakeland slate with dottings of lichen and man-made marks adding to its natural variations in colour.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (61 cm x 61 cm)
SOLD
This outcrop near the Cornish resort was home to the most colourful array of lichen I’ve ever seen.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 2’ x 2’ (61 cm x 61 cm)
SOLD
This birch trunk had smooth patches of white and silver against a craggy and weathered background.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 5’ x 4’ (152 x 122 cm)
SOLD
The name’s slightly misleading - the differences in colour and texture caused by the mineral deposits in this rock have stolen the show from its inhabitants…
Acrylic marker on canvas, 5’ x 4’ (152 cm x 122 cm)
SOLD
Inspired by the same mineral-rich patch of rock as the first Limpet Map, but concentrating on different colours.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 91 cm)
£200 (canvas has very slight damage)
This flat rock formation at Filey, very pale in the sun, is dotted with tiny pools and the odd bit of seaweed.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 92 cm).
£250
A thin film of water from the previous high tide still covered these limpets and barnacles on their deep-red rock in Whitby and gathered in the indentations made by the shellfish that had lived there before.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 91 cm)
£250
This tree stump on the banks of Grasmere has decayed in the most picturesque way, with the remains of the trunk taking on delicate shapes which reminded me of butterfly wings.
Acrylic marker on canvas, 4’ x 3’ (122 cm x 91 cm)
SOLD
